The Purser Protocol for MTHFR

Exhausted beyond belief?

Anxiety that never ends?

Depression you cannot pull out of?

These are the most common symptoms of MTHFR - the genetic transcription error that MILLIONS suffer from.

Most doctors and practitioners haven’t taken the time to understand the complexities of MTHFR. The symptoms, oftentimes debilitate its victims, are only masked with pain meds, anti anxiety meds, and supplements that do more harm than good

Are you frustrated that your symptoms have never fully been addressed?

The answer to these frustrations is locked within your cells. With the right tools and guidance, you WILL conquer MTHFR and live a full and happy life.

@danpursermd @Dan Purser MD MTHFR is the generic defeciency of your nightmares. It makes you tired ALL THE TIME, but there is hope. Managing your MTHFR symptoms is easy with the right tools. Taking your life back from MTHFR can be accomplished with 3 simple steps:

  1. Identify what variant of MTHFR you have (the root of the illness)

  2. Discover what Intracellular Nutrient Deficiencies are caused by your variant

  3. Supplement with the correct versions of nutrients that YOUR body needs (everyone is unique)

What is causing your symptoms?

MTHFR is a genetic illness that affects the body’s ability to methylate, or process, certain vitamins and carbohydrates. In simpler terms, it's a problem with the body’s ability to convert carbohydrates into ATP, the primary energy source for our cells.

Every human being relies on ATP to carry out all the functions within our cells. Remember, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, but what is it making to power everything? ATP

In a healthy individual, one carbohydrate molecule is converted into 32 ATP molecules utilizing the process of the Krebs or Citric Acid Cycle.

However, for those with MTHFR, the conversion is MUCH less efficient. Depending on the specific genetic mutation or combination of mutations, those with MTHFR can only produce between 9-23 ATP molecules from one carbohydrate molecule. They have dealt with this their ENTIRE life. Trying to catch up on energy for years leads to chronic illnesses and symptoms.

Symptoms of MTHFR

The most common symptom of MTHFR is Chronic Fatigue. Since ATP is crucial for energy, those with MTHFR often feel perpetually tired or as if they’re always lagging behind. This is because their bodies cannot produce ATP at the same rate as those without the mutation.

There are several intracellular deficiencies that demonstrate the intensity of MTHFR disorders.

B vitamins, when low, lead to low testosterone and hypothyroidism. The body’s inability to properly process these vitamins means that if you have MTHFR, you can’t produce adequate amounts of essential hormones, making their symptoms even worse.

@danpursermd Replying to @Frank Cordova @Dan Purser MD Great question. How do you test for MTHFR genetics? There are a couple options: 1. Foundation Methylation genetic test through me. 2. 23andMe or Ancestry has a health option and request the Raw Data. Run that through NutraHacker to get results. 3. Intracellular Micronutrient testing, again do this with me. With any of these options, i will give you me recommendations on how to proceed with your MTHFR. #mthfr #mthfrgenemutation #tiredallthetime #chronicfatigue ♬ original sound - Dan Purser MD

Step 1: How to test for MTHFR

The following are the best options for MTHFR Genetic detection:

  1. Foundation Methylation - designed to look at the key SNPs (genetic code bits that have been changed due to MTHFR) related to methylation and energy production.

  2. 23andMe or Ancestry - Common genetic testing that offers insight into ancestry lines and genetic variants. Each has an add on option for health insights, and with this you request the Raw Data. Run that through Nutra Hacker to get imputed genetic results.

With these results, you’ll know what variants of MTHFR you may have. The most common are the C677T and A2198C but some may have homozygous, heterozygous, compound heterozygous versions of these. Each version means a different effectiveness of energy production.

Step 2 - Intracellular Testing

CMA Intracellular Micronutrient Testing - these assays look at 48-100 vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidant activity inside your cells. This is the best place to start as MTHFR causes intracellular deficiencies. Treat these deficiencies and all turns around.

A side note: Our Intracellular Micronutrient Testing comes bundled with a 30 Minute Consult with Dr. Purser.

Step 3 - Personalized Nutrition Guidance

With results from these tests a personalized supplementation regimen is designed to fit your genetic makeup and current deficiencies.

Intracellular testing comes with a consultation where Dr. Purser will walk through your current cellular micronutrient levels and provide a guide to how best treat the deficiencies found in your results. Some will be supplements and others will be foods to incorporate or avoid in your day to day. Each one of us is unique so a personalized, hands on approach is the only way to properly manage MTHFR

98% of our patients have drastic recoveries from their MTHFR symptoms. You will too.

Treatment for MTHFR

MTHFR as a genetic condition cannot be “cured” but there is HOPE. Your best option is to go to the Root of the issue and develop a treatment plan around it.

What is the Root of MTHFR?

At its very base, MTHFR affects the effectiveness of cellular mechanisms of energy production. The methylation cycle is thrown off and the only way to fix or bypass the broken spots is to supplement with key nutrients.  These supplements are specially designed to fit the “slots” where the body struggles to process or methylate vitamins.

Think of it as a brick wall missing bricks. The supplements act as the missing bricks, filling in the gaps and ensuring the wall (the body’s metabolic processes) remains stable and functional.

The most common deficiencies observed across MTHFR patients listed below.

@danpursermd How you struggled with anxiety and depression? Could the cause be in your genes? Poor methylation of folate leads to less energy output of the cells, this cuases major fatigue throughout the body. MTHFR is the cause of this for millions of people. But guess what? The treatment is natural to reverse these symptoms. Supplement with the correct vitamin and minerals to support healthy methylation. AND THEN YOU GET BETTER! As simple as that. Root Cause Medicine.
